Kancil (“the app”, “we”, “our”) is an on-device AI assistant. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what data the app accesses, and what we do with it.
Summary: Kancil collects no personal data. All AI inference runs locally on your device.
Kancil does not collect, store, transmit, or share:
The app makes network requests only in the following cases:
Model download (first launch only): The Gemma AI model files (~4.5 GB total) are downloaded from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). No personal data is sent — this is a standard file download.
Web search (optional, user-initiated): When you enable the web search toggle and send a message, the app sends your query to DuckDuckGo (duckduckgo.com) to retrieve search results. DuckDuckGo’s own privacy policy applies to these requests. Web search is off by default and can be disabled at any time.
No other network requests are made.
All AI inference — including text generation and image understanding — runs entirely on your device using the llama.cpp engine. Your prompts and images are processed locally and are never transmitted to any server.
The app stores the following on your device:
No user data, messages, or images are persisted to storage.
Kancil is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
If we update this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
